Provided Application and Server support for Core Services offered by IHS. Provided expertise and knowledge in the VMWare Infrastructure Design and implementation of the New vSphere 6 vRealize Cloud environment. Provided Scripted safeguards on the Linux Side to create a self maintaining environment. Handled tickets through ticketing system (HEAT). Project design and documentation. Headed up migration efforts from to separate environments into a single VRA managed environment.

Provided knowledge contribution of the following services; F5(BigIP), Commvault (Simpana), Netbackup, Active Directory, Cold Fusion, Patch Management, LDAP Authentication, just to name a few.

Provided Application support to Core Business Services during essential Services contract. Roles didn’t change as this was the same role as under Excell. Main contributions were through product enhancement such as Moving forward on XenApp7.5 implementation from XenApp5. Complete infrastructure Backup redesign and implementation moving from NetBackup over to Simpana Commvault. Daily Ticket Handling of clients applications. Project design and documentation. 

Increased backup efficiency going from approximately 40tb’s backed up a month to over 1.4pb's backed up a month. 

Headed mandated 2003 retirement of all servers in infrastructure over to 2008.

Provided Application support to Core Business Services 24/7. Redesigning several aspects of the Infrastructure from Project Management to ITIL 2.0 CMDB research and development. Experienced in SAN architecture, Zoning, MPIO, using DSM Modules for preferred Path and active/active path configuration.

NetApp Storage management and configuration using OnTap 7.23 and 7.31 and GX, Storage Planning and trending. Using Vol Copy, NDMP Copy, Snap Mirror, snap clone. Storage Virtualization thru the V-Series presenting out HP EVA 8000 and two other NetApp clusters 3020’s, and 940’s to the NetApp V8060’s V-Series for a single management point.

Citrix XenApp Server 5.0 with Secure Gateway Server reverse-proxy implementation for Clinical Research Unit in Research Triangle Park, NC. In process of designing and implementing XenApp65 new Citrix farm with Secure Gateway server housed on the DMZ utilizing reverse proxy communication thru Secure channel.

Microsoft Active Directory Group Policy management and creation, policies as well as templates (adm & admx), scripting to clean up stale AD objects. 

Symantec Netbackup 7.0.1 planning, deployment and management, Implemented Netback as a replacement of SyncSort Enterprise Backup. Scripting of client deployment, Allocation of LUNS’s for media Servers , integrating vStorageAPI for vSphere Virtual Center to VMWare backups, designed, planned and deployed Symantec DLO option to replace Retrospect Backup Solution for desktop backup. 

Worked with HL7 file format with Clinical Center eSphere Application transferred between Bethesda, MD Clinical Center and RTP Clinical Center eSphere Application for secure encrypted patient information.

 

Key Contributions:
 - Managed, planned, carried out Active Directory Consolidation from Child domain NIEHS to parent domain NIH.GOV using ADMT and scripting mail merge COM components for user notifications. Over 4000 computer objects migrated.
 - Designed and implemented institutes VMware ESX3.5i environment, using VMware tool we P2V’ed about 100 Servers as well as implemented VLAN tagging for the port groups. Built 5 node cluster HA and DRS enabled.
 - Designed and implemented vSphere environment to replace 3.5i environment. This is a 16 node datacenter broken into 4 clusters, 2 nodes are split into a geo-cluster co located at our DR Site.

-  Planned designed and implemented Symantec Enterprise Backup solutions into the Infrastructure, including DLO option to backup desktops and laptops and utilized the VMware vStorageAPI piece to backup up out virtual servers.

-  Design and implementation of XenApp 5.0 environment, split into two clusters, one utilizing a Citrix Secure gateway Server with everything else behind firewall.

-  Design and implementation of User’s Home folder Migration from older NetApp Storage into a vFiler on our new V6080 NetApps. Used NTNAMES as the NetApp home folder authentication mechanism broken into 10 (2TB) volumes. Under one CNAME in DNS. 

Provide support for clients in South Campus Rail Building of NIEHS with various O/S Platforms. Such as Windows NT 4.0 workstation, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Professional Tablet Edition. Also supported NIEHS Applications including Microsoft Office XP and 2003, Network Associates Enterprise Antivirus, Endnote, Adobe Products & Retrospect Client configuration.   Assisted in cross platform standardization of Windows XP environment.

 

As a System Administrator I was brought on for various projects consisting of Citrix Farm Plan, Design and implementation, Building Highly Available Print Cluster Active/Active/Passive. Also integrated the Citrix Licensing Server into the cluster under a separate cluster resource. ESX 2x and 3x and 3i design, development and implementation in a clustered server environment as well as a Blade Implementation. Member of the Active Directory Consolidation Team for Moving all Computer Object to NIH.GOV Parent Domain. Experience in ColdFusion 6, 7 & 8 Servers, design and implementation in a DEV/PROD split environment. Also Active Directory Design and GPO management of our OU under NIH. Utilizing several aspects of GPOS from restricted groups to finger printing unauthorized software. Also managing WSUS Server with SMS integration. Built Slipstreamed 2003 Server Standard and Enterprise set of R2 with all Dell drivers for the Power Edge 2550’s, 2650’s, 2850’s and the 2950’s. Publishing of SOP guidelines for all SYSADMIN tasks.
