  • Originally hired within the English faculty, I have worked with the Head of Faculty over the past three years to improve HSC results within the Standard English course. I have also assisted in re-programming the Stage 4 English courses to incorporate modern pedagogies and heighten student engagement with e-learning and ICT for the purpose of better preparing our students for the communication and critical thinking demands of 21st-century life.
  • My responsibility as Core Teacher for Stage 4 (2016-2018) required engagement with the Stage 4 HSIE courses as they transitioned into the new History and Geography syllabi. Professional Learning in these areas led to responsibilities for re-programming and opportunities to lead change within the faculty in terms of e-learning and a more intentional approach to teaching and learning within a Christian worldview.
  • In 2018, my responsibilities within the HSIE faculty were increased by means of:
    • engagement with the Stage 5 HSIE course
    • responsibility for the Stage 6 Studies of Religion II course
    • professional learning and assigned responsibility for the development of Project Based Learning
  • As Project Based Learning Co-ordinator, I accepted the mandate to research, resource and program Project Based Learning for all Stage 4 HSIE courses. PBL was successfully launched in October 2018 after merely 8 weeks of preparation and has continued to develop as an engaging and effective pedagogy within the faculty. 
    • My role has involved training, resourcing and supporting the Stage 4 tea. 
    • Interest from other faculties has also provided opportunity for professional dialogue and spontaneous moments of mentoring in regards programming. 
    • In particular, the avenues which have opened for integrated learning between Science and Geography present exciting opportunities for future Stage 4 course development.
