The Woodlands of Baton Rouge is a large residental complex that accommodates over 900 college student residents. I worked at The Woodlands of Baton Rouge for a little over four years. During my emoloyment, I held the title “groundskeeper” and “maintenance assistant”. Groundskeeping required me to be consistent, efficient, and reliable on a daily basis. My shifts were 7:00a.m. to 2:00 p.m. When my shift begans at 7:00 a.m., my first duty is to remove all litter on the property, and empty about 14 trash bins. After the entire property is free of all trash and debris, my next mission is to clean the largest residential pool in Baton Rouge. This task required me scrubbing the pool, removing bugs and vacuuming the pool. Many residents and guest often brought glass bottles to the pool the area. It was my responsibility to always make sure glass was disposed around the pool area. Anytime I found broken glass I had to report it to the manager to ensure safety of our guest and residents. After the property is approved as clean and safe I would assist the head maintenance tech with work orders and property projects. Maintenance assisting required me to be attentive, creative, and reliable. The tasks on maintenance varied on a daily basis. I assisted my manager with task that involved me moving heavy objects, fixing appliances, taking record of completed work orders and giving the residents assurance.
