The intent of this project is: allow for dynamically increasing size of storage, expense management by reducing cost moving infrequently accessed historical data to a slow yet cost-effective storage. The proof of concept was done by segmenting historical KDB+ databases and moving ~40TB of data to ObjectiveFS. Thorough testing and optimization were done over a period to get the best performance. Managed to perform data retrieval 2.5x slower the normal SAN. The plan is to move data older than 5 years to ObjectiveFS. This will result in Multi-million $ cost-saving over the next 3 years.
