Professional Summary

At Youngstown State University, I have had the opportunity to conduct research projects and to synthesize various novel compounds. One particular research project was
“Crystal Chemistry of Doubled Cubic M2NF (M=Ca, Sr, Ba) Phases ” in which I synthetically made cubic and double cubic Ca2NF and this work has been published. In another research project at YSU, I also  did the synthetic work of cobalt-based metal organic frameworks.
Those research projects expanded my knowledge of materials chemistry / solid state materials chemistry and have given me the experience to do something novel. I was granted full reign over these projects and have spent numerous hours developing new ideas to drive the projects.
Not only have I spent much time in the lab, but I have also spent countless hours teaching students. At YSU , I have been a graduate and teaching assistant for the Chemistry Department. I have taught many chemistry labs as well as have tutored students in various fields of chemistry each semester. These positions have taught me how to better explain concepts to students and have helped me to develop interpersonal skills. Through these experiences, I have made connections with many students, and helped to spread knowledge of chemistry to others. I consider my greatest achievements to be not of my own personal successes, but to those of my students. When I observed a student whom I have helped grasped the concepts of chemistry, it gave me an overwhelming sense of pride. For this and many other reasons, I intend to earn a Ph.D. in chemistry and become a professor
